Certified by the National Residential Energy Services Network, the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) is the national industry standard by which a home's energy efficiency is measured.

Are Modular Homes Energy Efficient

The U.S. Department of Energy has determined that a typical resale home scores 130 on the HERS Index, while a standard new home is rated at 100. The lower the score, the more efficient the home is. An energy efficient Heritage Home with a HERS Index Score of 54 (our yearly average) is 46% more efficient than a traditionally-built home!

You can expect an annual energy usage of only 50-60% of the typical “standard new construction” home. You will receive a High-Performance Home Energy Rating Certificate that will show a summary of the estimated annual costs and energy consumption.

Heritage Homes of Nebraska received the 2019 National Green Home of the Year Award for Best Off-Site Construction from Green Builder Magazine. The judges noted the project was “super-efficient and a great use of resources.” In addition to this award, the project achieved LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

“To achieve LEED certification, a project earns points by adhering to prerequisites and credits that address carbon, energy, water, waste, transportation, materials, health and indoor environmental quality. Projects go through a verification and review process by GBCI and are awarded points that correspond to a level of LEED certification: Certified (40-49 points), Silver (50-59 points), Gold (60-79 points) and Platinum (80+ points).” From https://www.usgbc.org/

Building a home that surpasses the energy efficiency of a typical home by 50-60% is no mystery. By constructing indoors, in a controlled environment, and engineering energy efficient features into each home, we are able to achieve these high standards.
